A fun saturday in Wellington.
Well, today we started our first weekend in over a month and a half that wasn't filled with errands and frantic scrambling and we decided to enjoy it. The day began by meeting our friend Anna and her daughter Athea at a wonderful cafe in Lyall Bay for a yummy breakfast. The name of the cafe escapes me, but it was a converted life guard/swimming building and that was refelected in the name and it had an amazing ocean view. Afterwards and with full bellies, we grabbed some cappucinos to go and hit the beach to let the children run wild.
After tearing up the beach for a while, Ronan and his friend Athea spent some time throwing rocks in puddles.
Remember how I mentioned that I had the maturity level of an 8 year old? Hee hee.

After the kids had their fill of the beach, we ventured down the road to a fun playground by the ocean. There were climbing structures and slides and merry-go-rounds. Liam found lots to do there as did Athea and Ronan.

Well...maybe a little more playing on the beach could be done.

Ronan, feeling tired after his morning of playing, decided to take a quick snooze on the sidewalk. He announced to us the he was a "tired puppy" and that the puppy needed a nap.
Later in the day, we went to our friends Mike and Kelly's home for a delicious salmon dinner and Ronan and Liam got to play with their son, Luca.

As our fun-filled day came to end and we left Mike and Kelly's home, we got to take in their incredible views of Wellington...this time in the darkened evening. As far as the eye could see, fireworks were erupting in the sky from every nook and cranny of Wellington as the locals had their own neighborhood fireworks displays. Today was Guy Fawkes Day and tonight Wellington looked like a city under seige in a land of fairies.
